Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group hosts Filipino flour importers and media members in İstanbul

Turkish Flour Yeast and Ingredients Promotion Group (TFYI) hosted Filipino flour importers and media members in Turkey between 16-23 January 2017 in order to introduce a quality certification system comprising realization of the production of premium hard flour, hard flour and soft flour at set specifications by Turkish firms exporting wheat flour and for putting the said flour on the existing/target markets with quality certification, whose pilot implementation will take place in the Philippines, to hold negotiations with the importers that constitute one of the components of the said system, and to upgrade the Turkish flour brand and to promote Turkey in general.

A meeting was held on 17 January 2017, bringing together Filipino flour importers and media members, as well as Mr. Mehmet BÜYÜKEKŞİ, Chairman of Turkish Exporters Assembly (TİM), TFYI Chairman Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ, TFYI Directors,  TFYI Consultants Prof. Hamit KÖKSEL from the Food Engineering Department of Hacettepe University, and Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Sertaç ÖZER from the Food Engineering Department of Çukurova University, and TFYI brand consultants. TİM Chairman Mr. BÜYÜKEKŞİ gave a speech on TİM’s structure, characteristics and current state of Turkish economy, and Turkey’s commercial relations world-wide. Then, TFYI Chairman Mr. Turgay ÜNLÜ made an assessment of the recent political and economic developments in Turkey, sharing information on Turkey’s flour exports world-wide and to the Philippines, and explaining the “quality certification system” to be implemented by TFYI firstly in the Philippines. The meeting also saw a presentation promoting Turkey in general, recounting TFYI’s activities particularly in the Philippines, and the quality certification system. Said meeting was followed by another meeting where views were exchanged about the operation of quality certification system with the Filipino importers that constitute a component of the system.

On 22 January 2017, the Filipino flour importers held negotiations with Turkish flour exporters as well under the organization aiming to encourage the importers to import hard wheat flour from Turkey.

Moreover, the Filipino delegation visited the historical and touristic sites in Cappadocia, İzmir and Şirince, having the opportunity to taste various delicacies of Turkish cuisine.
